In collaboration with the Duke Product and Resource Equipment Team (PERT), a pilot period was launched between May and September, 2016 within Duke University Health System. The following patient care settings were identified as pilot locations: Emergency Department, Wound Care Clinic, Dialysis Unit - Inpatient, and Dialysis Clinic - Outpatient.
The primary sources of malodor in these settings included emesis (vomit), urine, feces, and wound exudate. The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive. The Odor Eliminator product proved to be extremely effective in eliminating foul odors and the tests proved convincing that the proprietary blend of microorganisms, enzymes, and surfactants used in the formulation performed as promised.
Consistent with the overall Duke Health commitment to create a sustainable environment for high quality patient care, trial participants were pleased with the quick action of the product, usability, including ease of use, and the fact that the product was made from pure, renewable, plant extract ingredients that did not contain dyes, ammonia, or chlorine.
The Golden Environmental/Mill Chem product is effective for the recommended purpose and is strongly recommended to other professionals in health facilities to eliminate malodorous smells.
